Voyage chronology (1865-1868)

A timeline of Tinco’s voyage through Russia, the Caucasus, Persia, Mesopotamia, Kurdistan, Syria, Palestine and Turkey – undertaken between 1865 and 1868.

Preliminary note. In his travel story, Tinco Lycklama doesn’t mention a precise date until his arrival in Riga, on 15/06/1885. He states that he left Paris in April, and mentions April when arriving in Frankfurt. It took him two days to get to Frankfurt, and he stayed there three days. He then travels to Berlin and stays a “a few days“. He then continues to Riga, via Königsberg (Kaliningrad).
This doesn’t account for many days spent on the way. Assuming that the trip from Berlin to Riga would have taken 2-3 days non-stop, there are about 4-5 weeks unaccounted for. Thus, it is possible that “a few days” in Berlin may have been a few weeks. Or, he may have spent time elsewhere. In 1865, there was a line directly from Berlin to Königsberg, without passing by Warsaw. He may, however, have passed Warsaw on another line, or possibly stopped at Bydgocscz and gone to Gdansk. He may also have spent time at Königsberg.
We hope to uncover evidence for these unaccounted weeks at the start of his travel.
